How do we make more accurate and meaningful ways of understanding and relating to others? How might we better understand the ‘softer’ traits when we interview someone for a job for example or want to get behind the exterior self?
Anthony Tjan suggests adopting a more attitudinal approach around skill sets. Try positing the following-does this person zap or spread energy, how authentic do they appear, how do they treat someone they do not know, (like the taxi driver or check out person), what are their levels of emotional intelligence and would you like to take a long car journey with them?
These skills or attributes can tap into ways of thinking about people that offer subtler and perhaps richer insights which we all need at work and in play.
